Becoming a Gilmore Girl

That is the new 2010 goal, well at least to read like one. I plan to paricipate in the "The Gilmore Girl Reading Challenge."

Throughout the show's seven seasons books and reading were large part of "Gilmore Girls, especially for Rory." Someone (with too much time on their hands) made an episode-by-episode list of all the books seen, read, or mentioned in the series. Lisa, another blogger, was emailed the list and dreamed up challenge.

There are three levels of participation:
Emily: Read 5 books from at least two different categories.
Lorelai: Read 10 books from at least three different categories.
Rory: Read 20 books from at least four different categories.

The challenge officially runs from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. You can find more details and a complete list of books to choose from here and you can join the challenge here.

My goal is to be a "Rory." Books read so far 7/20. Over the year I'll update this post as I finish books:

1) Stuart Little -E.B. White
2) The Wizard of Oz -L. Frank Baum
3) R is for Ricochet -Sue Grafton
4) S is for Silence -Sue Grafton
5) Tuesdays with Morrie -Mitch Albom
6) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone -J.K. Rowling
7) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire -J.K. Rowling
8) Alice's Adventures in Wonderland -Lewis Carroll
9) How the Grinch Stole Christmas -Dr. Seuss
10) Othello

Hm, i think we read the participation guidelines differently. I was assuming it was 5/10/20 books from EACH category. So, Emily would be a total of 10 books, Lorelai 30 and Rory 80. Considering that the list is over 300, I didn't think that seemed too crazy. But I'll go with you and aim for Lorelai, 10 books total.

I never thought of it that way. I was thinking Rory = ten books total. I could email the creator to find out.

Thanks Matthew, what do you think the reading total is?

Emily: five or ten
Lorelai: 10 or 30
Rory: 20 or 80
